Well I decided to upgrade my Dell 8400 when the dual cores came out. Now I have everything except my video card. It is said to be delivered today. I wish i would hurry up!!!

That is a semi sad story.

I bought it the day newegg got them in, and the 4600 was the first one they got, I wanted the 4400 and was hoping to sell the 4600 on eBay and make the cost of the 4400 a bit better. I put it on there and it went for incredably low. So now I am stuck with it. Unless of coarse demand raises and then I will unload it for the 4400.

yea we're all pissed cause we just upgraded and then these came out..ah well that's computers for you. anything higher than what the rest of us got is just bragging rights anyways..no real performance gain. albeit most of our setups are bragging rights to begin with lol

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but Nvidia has just developed a new set of graphics cards based on the 7800 GTX SuperUltra++ chipset. It is 2% faster and costs twice as much as the 7800 GTX. Unfortuantely for you, you will probably feel compelled to buy it.

Why the heck would he need 2GB to play BF 2? I play maxed out on 1 GB with a 6800 GT and I still run a freaking A XP 3200+!!

noone anywhere has been able to play maxed on on a 64 player server at 1600x1200 with 4xaa and eveyrthing set to high... without 2 gigs of ram and a serious system..

my machine is A64 3200 1 gig ram 6800 Ultra and I have to play 64 player maps at 1280x1024 with shadows off and lighting turned down or it stutters and begins to hit the swap file...
The battlefield team confirmed this is whats happeneing especially on the ranked servers that track thats they eat more system power...

yes on single player or 16v16 maps I can run everything maxed and pull 60 FPS...
on 64 player games with 64 players in the game it begins to swap to page file...
it needs more ram..

My 1gb of RAM on my O/Ced P4 + 6800 GT is choppy all maxxed out. It might be lag, I'm not sure. But it definately got in choppy ever now and then.

my machine is A64 3200 1 gig ram 6800 Ultra and I have to play 64 player maps at 1280x1024 with shadows off and lighting turned down or it stutters and begins to hit the swap file...
The battlefield team confirmed this is whats happeneing especially on the ranked servers that track thats they eat more system power...

I guess I need to clarify what I call "maxed out". Everything is set to highest except for AA and shadows as I have that annoying shadow bug. The res I run at is 1680x1050 and I have NEVER seen any stuttering, even when playing on 64 player servers. Maybe I am doing something different, but thats how it's been.

And who the heck runs AA when they have that high of a res? it's just overkill. I can understand at 1024x768, but at 1600x1200!?!? Seems kinda like you want to slow down your system...

I do... and so do most people... you can still see the jaggies ....
what you are running is not maxed out.... and unless you have a very fast HD that your swap file is on you are still hitting your page file...

try flying into a heavy combat area when lots of things have to load... you will feel the stutter.. specially on jets that are very fast...

foot soldiers dont feel it as much... you might not ever feel it..
but as a Pilot I feel it very badly...

and I run shadows at max and 4x aa

for comparison... I run all my other games at 1600x1200 8x aa and 8x AF.... this includes Doom3 and Halflife2... and it does not stutter ever... thats with max detail nothing turned town from max...

BF2 is a system hog..
