Sitting at you chair, can you hear your computer?

I can just barely hear it. Large fans with fan controllers, fluid-bearing HDDs, and passive cooling are good things. Oh how I long for silence though. 🙁

Yes, I can hear it. It's not obnoxious or anything but I can hear the fans. It's much better than when I first built it last summer, though, since I replaced the power supply with an Antec.

Which one? 😛

When I'm on Ye Surfing Box, no. Gaming rig, barely.

Good point. My mp3 machine has only two moving parts and is virually silent. L1A@7v in PSU and 5400 rpm HDD in a SilentDrive enclosure. Everything else is cooled passively. I challenge you to hear that machine.

yes,i am going to put together a {hopefully} ]quieter one, using a case i just bought from
Jen here at the forums.

Its modded to use a 120 mm fan, front and rear. 🙂

i will run the fans at 7 volt.

I have considered getting a socket 7 board and going with like a socket 7 k6=3+ that
ran at like <less than 2.0 v so you needed no fan to kool it. LOL.

I can hear it quite well.

My side panel is off. I have a loud 92mm+80mm Enermax PSU, a pair of SATA swap bays sporting 40mm fans, a boatload of assorted 7200RPM HDDs, an 80mm Delta on top my oldskewl Alpha 8045, and a stock Powercolor fan on my video card. Thus I play loud music. To be honest, the noise calms me.

I've got a silentpc power supply and I'm running an over-sized fan with an adapter at 7 volts.

This setup is almost dead silent.
