I was googling today and stumbled upon SitePal seems like it would be a nice addition to my website (local mobile pc tech) but 10 bucks a month is rediclious. I figured somebody else had to have released a program that does this, I'm not really keen on giving Sitepal my CC number for the trial. And I don't like monthly fees. Anyone know of software I can buy that will do basically the same thing? I like the idea and maybe it could boost up sales from people checking out my site *shrug*

I would focus on great web design, references, affordable and value-oriented services, and marketing.

it's annoying to me too, but I looked at it as a noob type, techie people don't call me to fix their computers because they can do that themselves :) the people I do work for tend to be very basic computer people and something like this might spark an interest with them. I don't know thought, I was looking for something different that might stick out and found this. I obviously wouldn't pay 10 bucks a month for limited usage of this crap, but if there was a program that did it for cheap I'd check into it probably.

I would steer clear. No one uses it, period.
If anything, it is just plain freaky, my technical knowledge aside. What people like is professionalism and some sort differentiator that further pushes that point, not freaks them out.

Things like slick flash, slick css, slick colors, flash videos, and happy smiling faces are what they like...;)

Think of with respect to cases, like how industrial cases now dominate will the plastic colored ones now look silly.

takes some design cues from these. most simple sites look cheesy, but some of the design cues in these are decent. Keep it slick, simply, and no animatronics.
