I saw a post on here a little while ago that had a link about breaking in headphones. I searched and I couldn't find it[I know I'm the muppet]. Could someone please post the link again.

Grado SR60's, I didn't go with the SR80's because I don't want to get a headphone amp. Thanks for the linkage.

Question does anyone have a 20-20000hz sweep mp3 that's encoded at a decent bitrate? Having trouble finding a good one. I just got the Boston Accoustics - Woofer Cooker.mp3 and it's pretty interesting.

Find a sweep/tone generator & make your own, that way you have a perfect quality version & you can make it as long as you want (80 minute sweep :D).

Here's one for you

IIRC that one will output a WAV file which you can burn to CD, if you'd rather connect the 'phones directly to your PC they usually do realtime output as well.

The amp section of PC soundcards is shite, I'm gonna hook it up to the Headphone jack of my preamp. Thanks Viper, were you the guy that was really happy when I posted the how to on unlocking the LanCity cable modems? Just curious.

When I was demo-ing headphones, the SR-80s were just as capable as the SR-60s when connected directly to a higher-end Sony CD player. The SR-80s were not lacking - nor were they requiring any additional amplification. However, I did find the ear pads on the SR-60s to be more comfortable than the donuts on the SR-80s. Yes, the pads can be replaced, but I wanted something comfortable out of the box - and didn't want to invest more money either.

I'm referring to most portable players, they have a much weeker amp section than a stand alone cd player. They sound very good to begin with, but I will break them in and see the difference. I like playing with new audio hardware. I was gonna upgrade my home system or get a sub, but where I live having a new toy like this is a better idea. Plus I needed new cans for my discman.
