I have decided to start a nightly situp ***REGIMEN***. I know nothing about situps. Can someone tell me about them, good progression scheme, expected results.. etc.

Thanks d00ds.

***That better?***

Regiment = military unit, around 1000 guys.

Perhaps you meant regime (Even though I can't spell...)

Here is a great site for starting up an ab routine. It may be a bit more than what you are looking for, but if you're serious about getting tight abs you're gonnna have to work for it - and work hard.

I don't have them yet, as my body fat percentage is too high for them to show. When I flex my tummy its rock hard. The problem is I have a layer of fat covering them up. :(

I want to lose fat before I worry about building muscle. Ironically, muscle burns fat the best, so I'll have to get a decent physique first. Chicken -> Egg

<< Regime = Regimen >>

ahhhh, i see.... you learn something new everyday

back on topic... if you're looking to improve your physique, you definitely should do more than just situps, you should train your whole body
doing situps is good, but keep in mind that doing 1000 situps != six pack

Yep. I'm totally satisfied ;) Thanks

[edit]Alright, I'll talk

situps have this thing about working your hip flexor muscle in addition to your abs. This would be all well and good but without stretching, this pushes your hips back and makes you look like you got an overhang belly...

I personally do 2 tiny workouts for abs that I like to alternate on different workout days at the end of my lifting:

crunches/flutter kicks
the Native American Canoe-by arrowing
