Sister is upgrading

Well it looks like my sister will be upgrading soon. I need to know is there any reliable bug free(or almost) C2D boards yet? If not and she does indeed upgrade like she says shes going to in the next month or so I think I will go socket 939 and x2. C2D would be the better choice since she upgrades every 2-3 years. But I don't want to be over her house once a week because of a faulty/buggy motherboard.

She has a 2500+ o/ced to 3200+ XP ATM. With 1gb memory.

😉
Why don't you help your sister build a new rig like it was your own.
You pick the components by surfing AT's mobo & processor forum.
Just a suggestion.

well I would build a C2D system no questions. But I can troubleshoot it myself if need to be where my sister can't. Socket 939 Nforce 4 boards have matured and are likely to give her problems.

I'm just wanting to know if there are any C2D boards thats reliable/almost bug free?

I'm sure 90% of them are fine. Typically on the bleeding edge enthusiasts boards have bugs and those are almost always addressed with BIOS updates.

I would say Core2 or AM2. There are lots of nForce4 boards with poor chipset HS/Fs that fail within 6 months; that issue has not matured. AM2 is really nothing more then more refined 939 platform with DDR2 vs. DDR1.

Correct me if i am wrong but, aren't the 975 board's older than the 965P boards? or am i wrong.

Besides, alot of people haven't been having alot of problems with new boards anyway.
