hi
on the machine i just bought , winxphome reports i have 112 mb ram?!
it is based on the sis630 chipset which i understand has integrated graphics and sound etc.
does this mean that it has 128mb in total and 16mb of system memory has been reserved for video?
sorry for the dumbass questin but i have only got this machine and the first thing i want to do is upgrade tht memory but want to get a handle on how much does what.
i take it the video allocation is likely selectable from the bios?

You are correct - your computer's video card shares the RAM from the system ram. If you upgrade the RAM, it will still be 16 MB allocated for the video card, unless (as you said) you change it in the BIOS - which should be possible.

So you aren't asking stupid questions, and you already gave good answers to them! 😛

thanks bastula!
