SIS / VIA Roadmaps Anandtech

I hadn't seen any comments on the chipset roadmaps for SIS and VIA here. I have seen quite a bit of talk about the nforce 3 250. I was curious what you guys thought about the upcoming chipsets from these two companies. After reading the info on anandtech... I am looking forward to these:

VIA K8T890

VIA's K8T800 is the chipset of choice for Socket-940 users right now, and later this quarter VIA will update the chipset to support a 1GHz Hyper Transport link. Then in Q2 VIA will add on to the 1GHz HT link and offer, once again, both AGP and PCI Express interfaces with the K8T890 chipset.

In theory, motherboard manufacturers could have both AGP 8X and PCI Express x16 slots on their motherboards, making those solutions extremely upgrade friendly for those who aren't ready to take the PCI Express plunge.

This is what I'm talking about... upgrade friendly without forcing you to use the more expensive tech until it's necessary!!!

SIS Chipset

Notice that they're both scheduled for May 2004... I can't wait until we see these chipsets (end of May)? They seem upgrade friendly (at least VIA does) 🙂

My guess is since 925X missed its ship date till June, VIA and SiS might as well; but we will see. Looking forward to seeing both chipsets too.

Thank you for the update!!! I'm looking forward to your and Anand's review!

Yup, what Kris said. I'm also hearing early July for when significant quantity will be available.
