I knew they existed... I thought VIA made one. But here's SiS with something with real potential!
Integrated 3D video, 6-channel sound, north&south bridges AND CPU all on a single chip!

SiS 550

I'll tell you, that could make one small, quiet system! :D Wonder how fast CPU and Vid is?

This thing actually has a CPU! As in CPU, north/south bridge, AGP graphics rolled into one!:D Possible uses? Maybe this is a good replacement for Transmeta-like sub notebooks.

did SIS hire a whole slew of new engineers or something?

what's w/ all these new killer chipsets (vidoe, etc.)..and a CPU?

SiS has really been surprising me in the last year.... graphics chipsets that can actually compete with the middle-end, solid, reliable mobo chipsets, low pricing, low pricing :) and lots of development and innovation. Now this!
I think VIA has one too, but I'm really thinking my next system will be SiS-based.

I'm just dying to know how the video and CPU perform on that chip though. Has MMX so it's gotta' be over 200MHz.... probably much higher but I doubt it'll be GHz performance. Then again, I could be pleasantly surprised there too. :)

Even the VIA C3 processor @933MHz is pretty impressive, considering how cool it runs.

This is the kind of innovation I like to see... :D

The excites me because I would love to get something like that tiny transmeta based sony notebook.
