I have great interests in SiS730s chipset.
I was wondering.. whether they make reliable products.
I understand that this is their first ever SocketA solution.. so I'd like to hear slot1/socket370/socket7 ones did so far..
Any experience on them?

well SiS makes lowend products, usually with a lot of stuff incorporated. All mobo companies used Sis chipsets at one time or another, but it's not for the serious hardware computing person. The solutions it provided were not very solid, and PCChips uses Sis chipsets a lot because it is cheap and have everything onboard like sound lan vid, etc. Dunno how there AMD T-Bird solution is gonna turn out though. From my experiences, it's a slight lower than average company, but things can change quickly in this market.

I've had nothing but problems with SiS chipsets. They work, but don't expect any pretty graphics or good sound. The video drivers stink, a lot of times there'll be memory corruption and you'll see weird things around your mouse cursor.

Consider an i815 chipset.

Because.. I'll go for Duron instead of intel chips..
And also because I'd like to get a mobo with FSB133 support (266 efectively) for future upgradibility..

a SIS chipset on a crappy board will be just as crappy as any other chipset on a crap board :)

A SIS chipset on a well made board usually works ok, they're just slow :(
if you need a el-cheapo office machine fine, but for games, forget it !

the new SIS chipset looks interesting because it supports a external AGP4x slot as well, but it all depends on the performance

Not sure of their mobo chipset, but their video chipster are a bunch of crap, which I've found out from past experience fixing other peoples low end computers.
