This board would be a perfect pairing for an Athlon 64 3000+ for $215 from Newegg!

probably not. On the other hand, if you're spending $215 on a CPU, why get a crappy ECS board?

Yes, I'm ready to be flamed by the "I paid $2.35 for my KZYMCDSDFSDG123432 and it runs great yay" crowd.

just because it is ECS doesn't mean it is crappy. i sh*ttiest boards i have encountered have been from MSI--i actually prefer ECS to them.

aGREED; i HAVE HAD A k75SA PRO AND 1ST GENERATION FOR QUITE A WHILE AND THEY WORK GREAT. oNTHE OTHER HAND MY aSUV k7v one time "Flagship" board is buggy.

ECS is not too good for overclocking without aftermarket bios.

Hi,

I, on the other hand, dislike the ECS K75SA boards. I built 2 systems based on the K7S5A. They often have problems with SDRAM memory & losing their bios settings. You had to get the right combination of power supply or memory to get them to run properly. It took weeks of postings to the ECS forums to get things right. I would rather pay a little extra than go through the problems. All manufactures put out lemons, but I think that ECS puts out more than their share.

On the other hand, I have had great experience with Gigabyte & Abit.

that's because the k7s5a were faulty. the new k7s5a pro versions are super stable. 3 of my 4 desktops in my house uses it w/ absolutelyl no problems.

i've had some major problems with MSI where the temp readings were off and lately it's been shutting down automatically. replaced it with a k7s5a pro board and problem's gone!

worst board i've ever had was made by chaintech. all the readings were off, and the audio had really bad buzzing and chirping.

it works still, but my brother uses it. the northbridge fan like made so much noise i had to disconnect it. it was an nforce 2 also.

ECS is tied with asus basically with worlds largest motherboard manufacturer. they even make a lot of other company's boards, including abit and shuttle for certain lines.

they maybe USED to be crappy in teh days of pc chips and houston tech, but i dont think they are any worse than average anymore.

I have a cheap-o ECS i got w/ a fry's combo, I really wouldn't buy an ECS board unless its at a very very low cost, like it is with the combo, It will run everything stock just fine... but ur gonna wanna OC just a little... and on both ECS boards i've had u couldnt really do much OCing

Check out this thread from the motherboard forum Link. I believe the version 755-A is having memory issues, I would wait for the 755-A2. Despite this issue I wouldn't hesitate to use ECS board for non-overclocking systems. In general I ahve found them to be very stable.

How about this, just found a review also Review.

I have this board, and have never been able to run DDR400 speeds with DDR400 ram. I strongly suggest anyone who's interested wait for the A2 Revision. Supposed to fix all the memory timing problems, etc. I think the reason the price is dropping on this board is word has gotten out about the problems. I'm just wondering what ECS will do for those of us who bought into the board before they fixed it.

I've heard of many problems with this board. What's worse is that anyone having a poor experience from low-balling on the motherboard usually ends up dissing AMD forever, which is a shame. Spend a few bucks more on a quality board or wait til ECS gets the bugs out.
