SiS 735 and WCPUID showing no Fast Write Support?

I'm puzzled by what WCPUID (v.3.0f) is showing when I click on Chipset Info.

WCPUID is showing AGP Spec. Revision 2.0, Data Rate 4X, Fast Writes Not Supported and Disabled???, Side Band Addressing Capable, but Disabled.

I've got a K7S5A w/the SiS 735 chipset, which supports Fast Writes. I've updated my AGP driver, downloaded the latest Detonator XP drivers for my Gainward GF2 Ti/450, and run down all the BIOS options.

What am I missing?

I can find no option in the bios on my K7s5A for FastWrites. Perhaps you have a newer bios.

hi i have just downloaded this program wcquid 3.0c, i also have the ECS K7S5A. I read on this site http://www.mysuperpc.com/computer_speed.shtml about 4 in 1 drivers for my AGP and i ran this program and it told me that it was disabled is this a problem? i have an nvidia geforce 2 gts/pro. can anyone tell me anymore info on this.

4 in 1 drivers are for VIA chipsets and the K7S5A uses the SiS 735 chipset so you don't need the 4 in 1 drivers. You can go to the ECS website and download the latest drivers for the board.

From what I've seen on the forums, FastWrites is recommended to be disabled as it causes a performance hit. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Happy Puppy, I don't have an option to enable/disable Fast Writes in the BIOS. All I did was skim through my AGP options, and Fast Writes isn't something that can be manually controlled(on the K7S5A), apparantly.

I'm just puzzled - first off - as to what Fast Writes even is, and why so many motherboard manufactures (including mine) tout having 4X with Fast Writes capabilities; then, to have WCPUID state that my chipset doesn't support Fast Writes (even though it does) confused me even more.

So, Fast Writes decreases performance? Anyone else know more about this?

please could someone who knows the ECS K7S5A could tell me if you can upgrade it to any of these chips XP1800, XP2100, XP2200, i went to the shop were i bought it from and he told me that i could only go up to the XP1500 is this true?

I believe I read somewher on the forums that you can use up to an XP2200 if you flash your bios to the latest official revision.
