Logged into my email today and noticed that Sirius had suddenly re-activated my Jetta's radio subscription with a trial subscription with automatic renewal on my account.

They did this without my permission AND knowing that I had owned my Jetta in about 3 years.

WTF, isn't this illegal? How can they sign me up for a trial with automatic renewal like that?

They didn't want to cancel either, trying to get me to keep the subscription going and offered me discounts...lol

What a frikken scam.

Log in, remove billing info, allow them to provide free XM for as long as they want- done!

Then get a collections letter in the mail for unpaid bill later on? I am still dumbfounded how the hell they could just sign me up out of the blue.

That HAS to be illegal to access my credit card information like that. Can I call up my CC provider and tell them what happened?

Set your Jetta on fire,... it's the only way to be safe.

Removing yourself from the vehicle 1st is optional.

BUT...

If you do remove yourself, you are taking energy out that may help the car burn. Its best to stay in the car to ensure complete burn.

XM is the most annoying company I have ever subscribed to and cancelled. They have sent mountains of "come back to us!" letters. For a period of several months they would call me almost daily trying to recruit even after telling them to stop calling and get me off their list. They'd still call and I eventually got used to the number and started ignoring it. And then they'd start calling from a private number.

I finally had enough and just unloaded on a rep and gave him a list of like 30 reasons why their service sucked compared to a number of other services.

They finally got the message.

Yeah I hate the shit out of both Sirius and XM. Expensive, and when I had it for a little bit, they STILL had 100 billion advertisements for something that I was already fucking paying for. I'd be listening to one of their channels, and then I'd get an ad telling me all of the great benefits of being a subscriber, some more content, then a god-damned ad for a different channel on the service.

Burn them in a fire, I'll be happy when they're bankrupt.

I think the law protects you here. If Comcast walks up to my house and connects cable tv without my permission or request they can't just start charging me.

I take it you haven't tried cancelling AOL?

Funny thing is that AT&T is trying to get me back right now. I ported my number over to a VoIP service, and since then I keep getting calls from AT&T. Some of them are a CSR offering specials if I return to them, but others are just dead air, as if their auto dialer has more lines to play with than they have CSRs.

Not good... we have a new vehicle with their free trial scrip. I like the tunes but I'm not looking forward to the impending PITA.

Shit...

A friend of mine sold his Infiniti G35 and bought a new car that came with a free 6 month subscription to Sirius XM so he called to cancel his subscription for the old car. They kept asking him what they could do to keep his business, trying to get him to renew, but he kept telling them he no longer owned the car. Why the fuck would he pay for a subscription for a car he no longer owned? They didn't seem to get it...

I had XM in my car, and when I cancelled because it was too expensive, they said "Ok, sorry to lose your business" and have never bothered me since. Had they offered me reduced rates, I would have stayed on.

I told them I would sign up as long as they let me keep my old rate of $79 a year. They said no, I said well you can take some of my money or none of my money. I know it doesnt cost them anything more to add another subscriber so if they want to keep thinking im paying ~13 bucks a month for friggin radio they are crazy

Wow... I haven't had any bad experiences with the XM in my car. I keep calling up every six months to renew the promo that is on my account. I don't mind paying $5 a month for the service. I've had it for 3 years now.

They are by far the worst I have ever had to deal with. I had a sub for 4 years and decided the price was no longer worth it and wrote cancel on the renewal bill and sent it in. After getting two more bills in the mail I called and cancelled ( the rep also acknowledged that they had noted the cancel note written on the first bill, but didn't cancel ). He said that he removed the $35.00 late charge and I owed nothing. I wrote down his name and employee number, date and time. I later get a collections notice. WTF. Called the collections agent ( that is run by SiriusXM BTW, and they said they couldn't do anything but continue with court if I didn't pay. I paid with a letter explaining that it was under protest and only to protect my credit rating. and I would be filing a complaint with the BBB. Which I did. Two weeks later I was called by the customer service rep and advised that they have reviewed the case and sent me a refund for the amount paid and a verbal apology. They still send me begging letters wanting me back into the cult. Fuck Them. The funny thing is I am still getting SiriusXM for free and it has been over a year now. The dumb fuckers never terminated my EIN.

Heh. Just today I got another offer from them. 6 months for $25. I would actually consider it if their quality wasn't absolutely horrible. My 3G based, free pandora streams sound better than their satellite feeds.

I received my weekly offer today also, in a bright yellow envelope.
