Sirius Users: Do you feel the playlists are too repetitive?

Sirius Hot Deal

I'm thinking about getting satellite radio, and I am leaning toward Sirius over XM b/c of the hot deal above. However, alot of the users at SiriusBackstage.com complain of the music playlists as being too repetitive and stale.

I've read alot of positive comments about Sirius from ATOT, but haven't heard much about the lack of new music. The hardware special promotion is great, but repetitive music could be a deal breaker for me.

So, for those Sirius users out there, what's your thoughts on the playlist situation?

Blast, you bring this to my attention with 40 minutes left in the deal?! I don't have time to look into it enough to decide if I want to get it or not. Did Sirius get Opie and Anthony?

Well, from what I been hearing over the past few days, they'll probably end up on Sirius.

Faction is where it's at.

Sure you hear some replays, but it's maybe once a day instead of once every 40 minutes like on crud channel owned radio stations.

It doesn't repeat too much. There is so much of a selection, so it doesn't matter to me. I like listening to the live tv streams as well.

Get Sirius. Don't get XM.

I have XM and love it. I've heard Sirius through my friends Dish Network (they play Sirius channels) and it's good too.

Either way you won't go wrong. XM will save you 2 bucks a month (not that I'd let that drive my decision)

I have both... and have grown tired of XM's increasingly sensored stations, thanks Clear Channel. Serius, even though still have some signal problems, but overall has better quality. I do find repeats on their playlist, but not often. Go with it.

i just get the point of satellite radio...

yea its clear, but a cd sounds better... mp3 cds can hold hundres of songs... throw it on random and you got all the songs you like... why waste time flipping through 500 stations when you can pick a selection of songs and hear them...

Not all people want just music. I enjoy listing to the comic stations, CNBC, FOX News, CNN, Bloomberg Radio, and the sports channels while driving.

I agree. On long road trips (which I take frequently), I like to listen to comedy, talk and news also. XM has that covered quite well (sirius does have NPR which I wish XM would get)

It is, in my opinion. Hair Nation should be the Guns n Roses/Cinderella channel. Yacht Rock has Michael MacDonald on every 3rd song, either backing vocals or solo/Doobie Bros. Yet there's always that gem you haven't heard in 20 years. I only have it because long haul trucking takes me coast to coast and channel hunting got old quick. One other MAJOR annoyance I have: Why are the annoucements/bumps SO MUCH LOUDER than the music? My 2 cents

Yes. A bit repetitive. But I like some exclusives they have. The Eddie Trunk show is pretty cool.
It's nice not to have commercials on the music channels. When I listen to regular terrestrial radio, I almost go into a fit with all the commercials. Really grates me.

Yep. I mostly listened to 90s on 9 and Lithium. Not only did the songs get repetitive and not only were they all in my CD library anyway, but they started adding more and more filler. I don't want a DJ. I don't want to hear stories about the songs or bad jokes, or weird voices, or long bumpers.

In the end I just loaded up all of that music onto an SD card and stuck it in the car radio. Good to go.

Trunk Nation is one of the best things on SiriusXM.

Yep. I have no idea what the playlists are like because in 9 years I have changed the channel from howard 100 or 101 maybe a handful of times. I just wish Bubba would have stayed on Howard 101.

Agreed. I wish some kind of deal could be reached with Bubba he was a nice alternative when Howard is off.

Yeah, it's very repetitive. I'm surprised that Pandora and Spotify haven't put them out of business now that everyone has a smartphone.

Especially with iHeartRadio. I feed that or Pandora though a FM transmitter to my radio. Don't have Bluetooth in the car.
