I heard howard stern is gonna have his own channel on Sirius Satellite Radio this january. I looked up Sirius on google and I'm pretty confused. There's no straight average review scores for these things. It just tells their features and I'm not sure what makes one of these better than another. I read some reviews on amazon to them and it's confusing

I am looking for a radio that doesn't require headphones, is portable so I can take it where I want, has a nice interface, free online listening for subscribers, has pause/rewind/whatnot, has wireless headphones, doesn't cost a whole lot per month, can also listen to am/fm and can record programs

Most importantly, it shouldnt require headphones, and has a nice interface.

I read of a radio online that has am/fm and satellite, but it only got a 7.5 something, but that was regarded as Very Good

I found this ad in circuit city to the JVC KT-SR2000 Plug 'n' Play Sirius Satellite Radio Receiver but it just says Sirius Satalite radio, but it just says Sirius Satellite Radio. It might be what i'm looking for. Would that be the best choice? The only thing is it has red text on the interface

Actually, I don't like the interfaces to any of the radio's screens. The look pretty dated. And yet I think Boise stereo has a good interface (it's just an am/fm thing)

what are you expecting from the interface? most recievers display, the song title, the channel, the artist, and few other things, but what the hell else would you want displayed? little dolphins swimming around?

I just bought a sportster replay, it seems nice. It looks about like what you want, and it has a $50 MIR

For portables, the s50 and the older XM's portable are the best (only?) choices, afaik. To move between car & home, go to Radioshack and look at the new tiny, cheap silver/blue one, for Sirius. Check Siriusbackstage.com for info on promos. There's a similar web site for XM.

You probably won't listen to am/fm very often once you get satellite. Maybe to get the local news, or weather.. but thats about it. I've had sat radio for almost two years now, and the more time that passes, the less I listen to "regular" radio.

It's just a big forum. Their store is closed. Is there somewhere I'm supposed to look in there?

I would still listen to FM probably because there's a show I listen to in the afternoon. It's called Deminski and Doyle and it's in detroit. It's kinda like howard stern, except they kind of bring up random topics some times and have people call in. It's a comedy like show

I would still listen to them because if I heard too much of stern, I could listen to them. But it's not terribly important that the radio have AM and FM. Plus, I dont listen to AM

And it definately has to be Sirius, since howard stern is on there

I guarantee you you will never use fm again once you get satellite.

I know XM has free online, I think sirius has free online as well, but I know that the sirius online stream is complete and utter crap, and XMs while still pretty crappy, is a lot better than sirius online.

Youre honestly asking for a whole lot in a single unit.

If it MUST be portable, your choices are either the g50 from sirius, or the myfi for xm. Neither *require* headphones, both can be used in the car etc. The major difference between the two is that the myfi can actually receive satellite while portable, and record a few hours worth. The g50 can play mp3/wma I believe though.

They are both going to cost you $14 a month.

None of them are going to use am/fm as well as satellite.

Personally, I like XM, much, much better.

Do these portable units like the SkyFi need direct view of the satellite? Do they work indoors without an external anntenna?

I know the antenna on my XM RoadyXT looses the signal even when I back up to my house. I needs direct line of sight.

Do I have to have a home kit too?

It's most important i can play it at home. I dont need it in my car. I was thinking i could walk around with it like a walkman, but those cost way too much

I dont listen to sports
You could use a car-kit at home, but you might as well just buy the bundle with the home adapter, especially if you don't plan on using it in the car at all.

There are recievers that are under $100 - a home adapterk it shouldn't cost over $50.
