Sirius satellite radio tuners

I have a 97 Miata with limited space for anything, much less a satellite radio tuner. I have a single din headunit and gauges below it, so the dash is out. I'd rather not have something so obtrusive hanging off my dash.

XM has the Commander and Roady units that take up very little space. There are a few other XM units that take up slightly more, but then they require you to use a cradle which makes it prohibitively large. NONE of the Sirius units operate without a cradle, which is a disappointment. Are there any new units on the horizon?

I've already replaced my headunit with a JVC KD-AR3000, which I like and I want to keep.

I'd still like to see the display. Plus, using an IR remote with something behind a door isn't going to work.

Well, I mean you flip open the glovebox. I haven't looked at a Miata's interior in a while so I don't have any dazzling ideas for more custom integration.

Definitely not the best solution while driving, especially with a passenger. 🙂

Here's a pic of my interior. Headunit has been replaced since then.

Check out Kenwood receivers. They do Sirius and are car-radio-shaped instead of being a giant rectangular puck like the Audiovoxes.

Hmm, looking at the interior, what have you got in that storage area next to the e-brake? What exactly is under the radio? I see climate controls above but I can't tell what's under it.

Drekce, got a link to any pics, details, etc? I'm |_| this close to buying a Roady, which I would likely be happy with, but I'd like to give Sirius a shot if they're going to be releasing some decent equipment.

The storage area next to the ebrake is a cavity approximately 6.5" long, 2.25" wide, and 1.5" deep. The Roady fits comfortably in there, as it has no cradle, but none of the Sirius units come close to fitting.
