What's up guys? Anyone else home doing nada on this fine Friday?

I have decided it's time to purchase satellite radio. I have next to zero FM reception in my truck (crappy built-into the window antenna doesn't agree w/my Kenwood H.U.) and I can only carry so many CDs, you know?

The tuner has a 15-pin connector that goes to the HU (just like the CD changer does.
The tuner ALSO has RCA outs.

Here's the question:

Does the audio signal travel thru that single wire that connects to the HU, or do I have to run another set of RCAs?

I am thinking the former, b/c that's how my CD Changer works; both it's power and audio go thru that single 15-pin cable.

Thanks much.

Some of them are FM modulated. But if you have craptastic FM reception, then that isn't an ideal way of doing it.

If you're gettin the Kenwood one then it would hook up like a changer and be controlled through the HU (assuming your HU supports satellite radio). If you already have a changer I believe there's an adapter that allows more then one thing to be plugged into the changer port. If you use the AUX in then you'll need to control the tuner seperately. Would you be getting that Here-2-Go unit or a hideaway one?

Hello to everyone. :) But, I've gotta address the most techically inclined answer so far...no offense. If you've seen the pics of my stereo , then you know I'm not an FM Modulator kind of guy. <--FM Modulation is that

I have done a bit of research on this thing (not that I haven't already bought it....:D) Here's some info on it

The tuner unit has a pass-thru connection for a CD Changer; I just wanted to be sure that I wasn't going to have to run another set of very expensive RCAs all the way up to the HU and hook into one of the AUX inputs. That would suck ass. :p

I won't be able to tell until I look at it, but the 15-pin connection seems to be indentical to the one I'm currently using for the CD Changer. If so, I can just unplug the changer, plug that into the Sirius receiver, then use the wire that comes with the Sirius to connect the changer to the Sirius unit.

What that accomplishes is it keeps me from having to tear up the interior of my truck to run new wires. I really don't feel like removing seats, trim panels and carpets, you know!

Anyway, thanks very much and yes; it's GREAT to be back at my Mental Institution away from home....ATOT. :D

your best resource for such questions would be http://www.siriusbackstage.com

That being said, i installed my Sirius PnP unit into my Passat with no trouble at all. Granted, i would assume your install would be more work since its not going to be a PnP unit. I didnt even have to run the antenna outside, it works perfectly fine on my rear deck.

Hey, what's up, aphex? :) PnP unit? You have an FM Modulator in your ride, or is the antenna on the rear deck? :camera:?

Thanks for the link.
