Sirius Satellite Radio: Commercials?

I thought there were no commercials on satellite radio (Sirius/XM) reason being that is why it costs $$.$$/month. Ive heard several commercials on the stations I have listened to.

Yes I believe it is the same with both services...It's 100% commercial free music. Not commercial free radio. So you'll only get commercials on the talk, sports, and comedy stations.

And the latest is that XM is going to start adding commercials to I think the music channels or more commercials to other programs.
I dont mind the commercials just get one of those replay units and pad the time and ff through them 😀

Yeah none on the music channel and just a few on the talk channels. A hell of a lot less than on terrestrial radio.

Talk are the stations that always have commercials. The guys can't talk for a long time...there has to be a couple of minutes to rest the voice and plan the show as it goes along.

BTW, I worked at a sports talk station at one time and that's what we did during breaks. I was a lacky PA back then. But I still got to come into the studio and give information on upcoming guests or stuff we had lined up.

Yeah you have to understand though on the talk stations they are also on land based radio. So the feed you get even with Sirius has commercials. Howard during his show has very few commercials. I mean very few. And if you have a decent radio ( I have a cheapo Xact Replay my 3rd since I started) you can pad the show and just fast forward or skip the commercial all together. That you can not do on Land radio.
Some cable channels are still commercial free. Oh wait no they arent they still advertise their own content 😀
For the money it is great.

they have to make some sort of money besides sub prices. Advertising on talk, comedy and news channels is how they do it.

And with all the money Sirius is going to lose from tampering with Howard Stern's Infinity contract.
