I'm seriously considering purchasing a Sirius stiletto 2 portable radio/MP3 player with built in WIFI. My questions:

1)Do you own one and what do you think of it?

2)I use WPA2 and the key is 64 digits long how can I enter that in the stiletto 2? LMAO

3) How good is reception? I plan to use it on the patio with a steel over hang, but the placement will be near the edge of the over hang. I will be connecting it to one of those cassette tapes that plug in to a 1/8" 3.5 mm jack so that I can hear audio over my boombox while in the pool.

Had XM in my car, came with it, stopped service because of the ungodly compression and it's artifacts made it really annoying. I wasn't expecting CD quality sound but the flangeing and muddled bass got annoying to listen to after awhile..

If you are just using it at home I'd recommend you just get a trial to Sirius online streaming and try it first if you like the audio quality on a computer or cellphone using WiFi with the app

I've had xm or Sirius since 2005. Yeah the quality isn't the best but I'm not the type that cares that much. Just know what you are getting into. But yeah internet wifi Sirius works on any smartphone so unless you are out of WiFi range you can use a phone instead of the device in the Amazon link

I have the XMp3i which is pretty much the same except no wifi. Use it constantly. Reception is awful inside with the internal antenna unless you use the included external antenna. Outside the internal antenna works pretty good. What I do is hook the XMp3i up in its included cradle/charger, attach the external "flip" antenna (which pulls in pretty strong signal inside the house), and setup the XMp3i to record from the sirius online daily schedule. After that, pop the XMp3i from its cradle, and play my recording on the go.
So far so good. I record a lot of old time radio classics, and some political talk shows.
I haven't used it to load or play mp3 music, only recorded sirius radio programs.
Half the price of the Sirius stiletto. If you want wifi radio in the home, I'd try the SiriusXM TTR1 Tabletop Internet Radio. About $80. That uses wifi and works pretty good too.
Both together would cost less than the Sirius stiletto.

Well, I looked at many radio's on Ebay and thought about the Sportster first then my MP3 died on me and thought well, I want Sirius and I need an MP3 player so the stiletto looked like a viable alternative. I was bidding on the XMp3i on Ebay with a life time activation but the price simply went to high. Now I found a stiletto with an activation (not sure how long it will last) and it's much cheaper except it doesn't come with software, USB cable or AC adapter. They sell the AC adapter on Eaby which I added to my watch list and the USB cable I'm sure I have. I jsut wonder if I have to use software with the Stiletto to upload MP3's or if I can just plug it into the computer and use explorer. I know the XMp3i uses software and I heard from an Amazon review that the software didn't work in Win 7.

I figure the stiletto would be great because it has built in WIFI and I can hear online radio in the house without using an antenna. I just have a 64 digit password which will be a PITA to program in.

Many years ago I used to subscribe to Sirius and XM Internet radio with disposable E-mail addresses and I thought the sound was alright. Now I can't do that because they want a credit card. My main music listening is Pandora, but it's getting old.

I enjoy Sirius, but I have to agree, the sound quality for such a costly service is rather low. The only reason I keep it around is every time I call to cancel they offer me 6 months for $25 which is worth the cost IMO.

are those lifetime ones still in the $300-400 range?

I thought about getting one myself but I'm not sure if i would fully enjoy it. I like it in the rental cars but i think it will wear off.

I can pick up a "supposedly" life time unit for a 175 bucks. A sportster with lifetime activation moved for 250 bucks on Ebay just recently.

Won't wear off on me because I'm always listening to music while out back on the patio and the I can hear the news and not miss a show while I'm outside. Plus, the Stiletto is a MP3 player and then even if I can't get reception in the house or outside I can use the built in WIFI.
