Which is more worth the money? Which has better options to take it from my car to my home and beyond?

I noticed Sirius has a portable player and also lets you listen online for an unlimited amount of time if you buy the service.

What does everyone know about each?

(Music I want to listen to most: dance, techno, trance.. then comes the rest, like pop, oldies, classica, everything else..)

I think they are both a waste of money.

But if you are going to go with one, my parents have XM and they seem to really like it. It has plenty of different genre's to choose from, including those you've listed above.

Sirius has cool commercials, hehe. That's pretty much all I know about either, I guess this could be used as a bump then. :)

Don't travel by car (long distances) much do you?

I have/make CDs.

EDIT: and to make 10 a month worth it, I would have to take 3 or 4 1000 mile trips a month. I drive quite a bit to get to work (60 miles a day) but it still a waste IMO.

I used to do the same, but decided to try out Sirius. Best item I have ever purchased for my car. Makes the 16 hour trip to Texas somewhat better by not having to scramble for music.

I thought only certain channels were commercial free.

That's what i thought as well. And those are generally the stations no one listens to anyway.

IIRC there are a lot more commercial free channels on Sirius then XM. I have heard that the sound quality on Sirius isn't as good, however.

According to Sirius' website, they have 100 channels, 60 of commercial free music and 40 of other stuff.

XM won't say directly on their website, but according to crutchfield only about 30 of their 100 channels are commercial free.

Get the yearly (they have 1,2,3 year) contracts and you'll save quite a bit. Also, its commercial free AND they have the capability to broadcast video feeds compressed in mepg4 format, it's something that they have shown they are capable of at electronics shows. I believe it's planned to come out in a year or so.

Sirius has commercial free music channels and guaranteed that too. XM is in bed with ClearChannel, and there is no guarantee that more channels will not have commercials in the near future as business needs change. They way I see it, if you are paying for radio, there is no reason why you should be hearing commecials even for 3-4 minutes per hour as XM advertises.

Sirius and XM both have portable radio devices now...so thats not a problem. Content wise Sirius is rated much better (I'm a trance/techno listener too), and their Headquarters in New York city puts them at the center of it all.

I believe sirius has plans for lifetime subscription coming up, but I'm not sure about that.

Edit:
And as Electrode mentioned....Sirius has NPR. Kinda seals the deal.

I have had both, would NEVER use XM again. Sound quality sucks and they have way too many
commercials.

Sirius music streams are COMMERCIAL FREE...all the time. Never a commercial on any of their
music stations. That alone is worth the cost. Also if you've never heard of him, there is a show
on their talk station named The Mike Church Show that is the
funniest show on the radio...and since it's uncensored, the discussions get very "frank" about
some pretty interesting topics....

SIRIUS AND COMMERCIAL FREE IS THE WAY TO GO....

sorry for shouting, but I really, really love my sirius...

Wrong. Clear Channel has invested in XM but they do not run XM. (Direct TV & General Motors have also invested in XM)

The bottom line is XM has a future and Sirius will probably be "aquired" by XM in the future.

I would like to see NPR on XM also.

Sirius is commercial free.

I hate radio commercials so much these days, probably because regular music programming is almost one third commercials, that I would never pay to hear them on a music station.
