Hello,
I plan on getting one of these two soon and I wanted to know what one is better? Do they have the same stations? Will they both be around for a while (I don't want to drop $500 on a new car radio and have it be junk in a year). Please let me know your opinions.

Thanks

sirius...commercial free, unlike XM. XM is in financial trouble at the moment, but IF anything should happen, they will be bought and service will continue. Both services should be around for awhile.

check out the latest 2600 issue. It has an article on XM radio.

Umm, Sirius is in much worse financial shape than XM.

That, and XM has 7 times as many customers.

Plus it's got the financial backing of General Motors. XM ain't goin' anywhere. XM has two satellites; one over the west coast named Rock and one over the east coast named Roll. On the ground, in densely populated or satellite-problematic areas, repeaters have been placed so that reception is good virtually anywhere you go. 30 of the more-than-100 channels are 100% commercial free while the rest are nearly commercial free. XM comes available in most GM vehicles from the factory as well. Next year, virtually all of the GM vehicles will have XM capability.

XM shares closed up $1.41 at $12.40 on the Nasdaq stock market where it was one of the highest percentage winners. Sirius stock, which was one of the most active on Nasdaq, finished up 1 cent at $1.70.

Financially, XM seems more stable, but I've heard Sirius has better contnet.

Anyone know if XM has NPR. I really like that and would like to get it, also on XM Car decks, can you still get normal local radio stations?
Thanks

NPR is on Sirius, unfortunately and yes you can still get regular radio reception in your car.
