Sinus improvement through exercise?

My allergies are pretty miserable at times throughout the year, and it's usually to the point where I get used to not being able to breathe through my nose.

That said, I intensified my workout over the past few weeks, and I immediately noticed an improvement in my sinuses. I always had improvement immediately after working out, but now I'm noticing a sustained improvement.

Anyone have any suggestions as to why this might be? I did a little Googling but there seems to be more people saying their sinuses get worse through exercise.

What's Dr. ATOT think?

Much of your sinus problems are probably due to swelling. Exercise reduces swelling and lowers blood pressure as well as your resting pulse.

This makes for less swelling in your sinuses and nasal passages and clearer breathing.

QFT DING DING DING We have a winnar. 😉

**EDIT**
OP find a lymph node on your body. There should be one near your cartoid artery by your neck. You will usually see that much of the toxins and swelling in your lymph nodes goes down when you eat right and you exercise.

I thought it might be something like that, but I figured whatever inflammatories my body could deliver would go to the muscles? Then again, I obviously have no idea. This also made me think that it might be a polyp situation.

I am happy that the improvement seems to be sustained. Not sure how long it will last though.

exercise = parasympathetic supression, sympathetic activation, thus the sinii which have secretions controlled by the parasympathetic are supressed. You may experience a rebound after you workout, as the parasymp. comes back with avengance

Whenever I have a cold running around outside or playing hockey or something always clears my nose up. 😀

The rebound would be more aligned with what others seem to experience, but so far it remains clear. We'll see...

Yep, same thing happens here. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that exercise when you have a cough or respiratory ailment has the opposite effect.
