Sins of the Solar Empire

That looks really cheesy compared to EVE-Online...

Sins is still under production, Eve has had years to refine their engine. As it stands right now, I think Sins looks better, especially since it'll be displaying so much more on the screen than Eve ever will. Eve will be undergoing a graphical upgrade soon, however, but you won't be seeing hundreds of fighters, hundreds of cruisers, and hundreds of capital ships on the screen, as well as planets, spacial phenomona, and space structures as you will in Sins.

Not a single weapon in EVE spills into it's target like that. EVE look's beautiful but it is a very mmorpg no-phyics affair. I pasted that screenshot because it showed a weapon completely contacting with a ship and being modified by that.

the shields yes
but not that blue bit, in Eve nosferatus work exactly like that, awsome sight to see

The graphics of this game are not impressive at all, its comparable to eve when it first game out.

But who cares, homeworld was never about graphics either.

That statement is SOOOOO wrong. Homeworld was/is about gameplay AND graphics. It's simply GORGEOUS.

ohh no

the graphics was just there to make the gameplay shine, it was not there as a gimmick to get people to buy the game, not like most games released now

And I always thought the ads for Homeworld were about what a pretty game it was. Maybe I should had read the fine print which explained there was more to this game than just a pretty face. Perhaps Homeworld 2 should had put HUGE text to explain the finer points of the game rather than those beautiful screenshots of the game in those ads, certainly cheaper that way.

personal taste probably, I never thought the graphics were that amazing, what was amazing was the gameplay and most of all the interface

When Homeworld first came out, it was the first game offering such a glimpse into having a real space armada. The motherships you used to build your army with were absolutely amazing and a lot of the battles were very cool looking. Homeworld 2 was a bit of 'more of the same' but the alien ships were very beautiful in it.

Sins looks pretty badass.

" Fuel an expanding empire with the valuable resources discovered on planets. Develop each world by building ground-based and orbital structures including cities and defense platforms.

Each class of planet has a distribution of appropriate terrain that ranges from ice-fields to molten-rock, and deserts to oceans. Each type of terrain provides players with unique bonuses and strategic opportunities.

Interact with planets in diverse ways such as conquering enemy worlds by peacefully shifting allegiance or forcefully raining death from orbit.

Planets exert gravity on nearby ships and structures and orbit about their stars for an evolving battlefield."

Cool. 🙂

They also fully endorse modding the engine for non profit purposes, providing a suite of mod tools with the game when it launches. Should make for some interestng mods in addition to the usual Star Wars and Star Trek fare. I'd like to see a Stargate mod too, would be cool to try my hand at battling the Ori at the Supergate. 🙂

I have a hard time believing that no one has any interest in this game.

Every space game out the door has been a pretty big miss lately. I think people are losing hope in a decent one.

they should really make games based off of sci-fi novels (ender's series, hyperion series, etc... ).

But damn, HOMEWORLD I and II were just damn friggin awesome.

Licensing issues make that problematic, at best. You could always make a mod though. 😛
