Whats a decent single-slot 6800GT cooler that is both quiet and has good cooling?

nVidia VGA Silenecer, that's really your only option, and yes it's 2 slots, but its also silent. If you have a SFF system, i'm sorry :(

I didn't mean it was quiet, basicly I was saying there is only 1 other option you can buy unless you want to make something yourself.

This is true. I'm just itching to get rid of the stock cooler, just under 3-weeks and counting. As it is now there's very little variety in aftermarket 6800GT cooling.

I really like the loks of the stock Leadtek cooler, suppose to be quieter with equivalent cooling abilities.
I'd love to be able to buy something like that.

Maybe Zalman will have something to add soon. Their coolers are expensive but they sure look sweet.

thank goodness i didn't go for the BFG 6800oc that i wanted from outpost. I had heard that the dual-fan design was very loud, so i opted for the PNY 6800nu and it runs very quiet with a single fan. (single slot too)

Your only good choice now is an artic silencer :)

It isn't loud so much, whiny better describes it. It's sort of like getting stabbed in the head with a pin or rubbing a nickel on your teeth. I'm listening to it now! (*shiver*) :)

my eVGA 6800GT is quiet too... slightly audible, but no louder than my 9800Pro was.. I am happy thus far.
