single or dual 12v rail?

is it best to have a power supply with a single 12v rail or dual 12v rails for optimal performance and stability for single video card systems (X1900XTX)?

It's best to have a stout power supply whether it be single or dual rail. Most are dual rail and even though the OCZ 520 watt doesn't state it, it has two dedicated, shielded rails and a common rail as well on the 12 volt side of life.

Single is best, but while there have been some people having issues with dual rail PSUs they are the vast minority, with a single card system i wouldn't worry about it.

im pretty sure dual rail is better as it keeps power seperately running, and can have less loss (because its exponential efficiency not linear)

Single rail is more flexible but good ones are getting hard to find. Zippy and Fortron still make some. I think the Fortron or Sparkle FSP550-60PLG or the FSP550PLG-SLI are excellent for those who aren't noise nuts.

.b.h.

Single rail is more flexible.

If you have 2 rails each with a maximum 15A limit and it turns out that you need more than 15A from on of them, you are out of luck even if the other rail has no load on it.
