I received a bottle of 15-year old Glenmorangie as payment for a computer job.

Do I have this with a little water like I do with any regular blended scotch?

What is the recommend way in which this is served?

Never ice. A little bit of purified water. If you learn about how to "properly" taste scotch, ratio of water is very high. Like 30%. But I think that's too much. I just splash some in.

I think a little bit of ice and some water opens it up. However aged it might be, it's still going to be around 80 proof, and if I'm drinking something that's been aged to develop certain flavors, I want to taste them.

I'd say put as much ice or water in it as you like. It's your pallet and your bottle of expensive booze. Make sure you're able to enjoy it, with whatever ratio of water you like. I probably put a lot more water in it than most and have no regrets doing it. If I want the overwhelming flavor of alcohol, I'll buy accordingly, not $50+ scotches.

Some people like scotch chilled, but I really don't so I avoid ice. I usually prefer between 1:10 and 3:10 water:scotch, with an occasional one straight up.

Water in scotch...travesty.

Master tasters and master distillers would disagree.

I understand that, and I disagree with them. Anything added cuts the natural flavor, and that's a travesty.

That's cool, whatever you like. It's to enjoy. I've had some that tastes like I'm sucking on peat.

They go to all the trouble of distilling the water out and you add it back in?

Yeah, Laphroaig comes to mind for that.

Anyway, I always add water. If I wanted the alcohol to overwhelm the more subtle flavors, I'd have opted for cheap vodka. To each his own, I cant stand when snobs go nuts over adding water to scotch. Hell, everyone I've met from the damn place does it.

Laphroaig FTW

Usually neat, occasionally with a splash. Blendeds or cheaper scotch - I use ice.
