Hey folks

I have recently bought the Asus A8V deluxe mobo, and an AMD 64 3000+ chip.
When assembled, the machine will only boot in single channel mode, with a DDR400 chip in B1 DIMM slot (3rd from the processor). If I add another DDR400 (identical to the first) in slot A1 (closest to processor... both blue slots), the machine will not even enter POST. Screen doesn't power up... nothing.

Any idea what this is about?
I visited the ASUS site's 'support' page (there's a contracition in terms), but the only reference to this problem, says I should flash my bios, and update to version 1007, which is older than the version I am using (version 1010).

Looks like I will have to 'flash backwards' to sort this out, then.

No sweat. Your English is infinitely better than whoever wrote the manual...

What core is your chip:
Venice recognice from ????
Winchester recognice from 1008 bios
Newcastle and Clawhammer not problem

perhaps the bios is not correct , sometimes have issues.
