Single Channel vs. Dual Chanel/A7N8X-deluxe or A7N8X-X

I read on this forum, some discussions about the performance improvement brought about by using memory in dual channel. One of the guys gave a link to a review of a Soltek board based on Nforce-2 400 chipset(single Channel) and the board trashed the A7N8X-deluxe(Rev-2) in almost all the benchmarks with similarly configured system. Why is it so?

Does it mean that Nforce-2 ST (400 ultra) is not as fast as Nforce-2-400?

Does it mean that if one is not going to use Nforce-IGP it is better to have a board based on Nforce-2-400, with single channel memory support? The difference in price is about$30.

Any comments!!

Probably not worth the difference in cost. Awaits wrath of anal benchmarking member named...

I think it's because the SCDDR boards have more overhead than the DCDDR boards. Someone gave out a really good analogy the other day...but I can't seem to remember it...

Similar question from my corner

Only I'm not looking at the Deluxe.

A7N8X or A7N8X-X

Price difference $30CAD (~$20US) I would have thought the dual channel was worth it for that little..but maybe not...

The a7n8x-x has more limited overclocking options in terms of vdimm, vcore etc. If you're not going to overclock I say go for it but the soltek nv400-L64 has my tongue hanging out of my mouth if you can get it. I think Canadians are buying it at a place called nxics or something like that - check the amdforums under the soltek motherboard section, they mention it.

Also the a7n8x-x is reviewed pretty thoroughly in a few places, hardOCP is one. I think they're reviewing it here too?

I just built a computer with an Asus A7N8X-X for someone. You can see in my sig I'm using the A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 for my own system. I'd still go for the Deluxe 2.0, but if you want to save money and/or will NOT be using 2 sticks of RAM, go for the A7N8X-X. It's a great board!

That would be www.ncix.com

Soltek eh? Hrrmmm...

I've decided to go with the Dual Channel board over the single channel, even though there's not a huge performance gain I've already got two equal sized DIMMs...no real reason not to put them in dual channel. $30 (cad) isn't very much.
