Single-channel RAM in a dual-channel mobo?

Is it okay to use single-channel memory in a mobo that supports dual-channel? Would it work okay?

Also, what kind of benefits would dual-channel offer over single-channel with a 2500+ Barton?

If it has onboard video then yes it will be a huge performance diff. But if not using any onboard video then the hit will be not much. There are some areas where dual Ch mem helps a lot, but the most part you will probable not know. That and you can alwasy add another slab later and then use the dual setup
