I have an old Tyan Tiger dual slot 1 mobo in which I have a single Celeron 300a. I was looking on pricewatch and saw that I can get a couple of P2s in the 300-350 MHZ (512 cache) range for around $70 dollars shipped. The box is used primarily as a file and print server/router, just a lab box. It's running 2k server with 128 megs of RAM. Should I get the old P2's? (I'm leaning towards yes). Thanks

Yup, it'll improve it's server capabilities. But if speed really sin't too much an issue, then dont bother =P An extra $140 to upgrade a very obsolete box is pretty steep.

$68 would be the total cost for BOTH chips (31 bucks a pop plus shipping). I think I'm gonna do it. I can use that box forever in one capacity or another.
