single black pixel moving around my screen

I just noticed in the upper left of my screen, there is a single black dot (one pixel) that moves around randomly. I dont mean jittering, it moves around the screen. I used dead pixel buddy to show an all-white screen, and it is definitely there.

I'm on a LCD with dvi connection, what could be causing this?

Sometimes it even goes exploring off the screen....

:edit: it seems to wonder around the top of my screen.

Probably a virus that found its way from your HDD to your Monitor.

Or Skynet that just gained control !

I'm not going to pretend to know the answer, but...

Have you tried a different DVI cable?

I would start there.

Maybe try to reset the screen to factory defaults while you're at it.

Sounds like an interfering cable problem or interface problem. Try a different cable, and/or a different source.

Crawling = not a dead pixel.

If its a pixel problem i dont think dvi cable ha anythin to do with that... i ve noticed smthn similar too before on my sceptre 22 inch... it might be just a stuck pixel... try pushing slitly on top of the pixel and see if it goes away... but dont push too hard... or u gonna make it worse

It's not a dead or stuck pixel because he says it moves around.

There's something wrong with the cable. If I were a betting man, I'd bet $5 on it (if I had $5 to bet as well).

I'll try replacing the cable. It doesnt move around all the time, and I havent noticed anything different about the circumstance when it happens.

a stuck pixel cant move by definition. It is a mechanical problem.

You on the other hand seem to have an electrical problem, so dont try rubbing your screen or anything like that

I know its not a stuck pixel, it moves. When its not moving, its simply not there cause it wonders off the screen.

Next time I notice it wandering around I'll swap the DVI cable.
