I'm confused. Single 4850 X2... should CrossfireX be selected in ATI control panel?

No CrossFire is automatic with the 4xxx X2 series.

I love your camera, but I'm an S5 pro shooter.

Yes, I would say. Mine crash with CrossfireX enabled. I'm confused, too.

Yes Crossfire needs to be selected ,if not it will show one adapter as disabled in ccc
