The United States was founded on individuality, non-conformity, and personal freedoms. What better way to show that than with singing the National Anthem in a personalized way? I think the main thing is to just do it with some RESPECT. Marvin Gaye rocked the anthem and people loved it. You are in the minority, and personally I think your opinion is quite sad.
