Hmm, what is the -ing tense of "singe" vs. "sing"? I mean "sing" in this case ;)

My monitor started sounding like TVs recently (high pitched noise). The noise goes away when I turn down the brightness/contrast, but then the screen is dim (as one might expect ). It is not constant, (sometimes it sings, sometimes it is silent). Degaussing does not have any effect. Is there anything that can be done about that? A loose connection somewhere? I know everything in the universe has "no user serviceable parts inside" but that doesn't usually apply to anyone who messes around with hardware for fun.

I kinda have the same problem... I take it that your monitor didn't always sound like this, it's just of recent? Have you upped any of the settings like resolution or hz? Have you recently put anything near your monitor that might cause some EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference)... such devices might be stereo, speakers, tv, fan... Other than that, some monitors are obviously cheaper quality than others and will either do that from the get go or eventually do it... Hopefully it's just EMI though

I have 2 speakers (from my stereo, so unshielded) about 2 feet on either side of the monitor, but no compass to check magnetic field. Moving them away doesn't seem to have any effect. I don't think it is wise to bring them closer. A lot of people have advised me against messing with the monitor though...
