Hah. Yeah, Frisbee was the name of a company that made pie tins. They found out the tins were being used as toys.. and so forth...

Same way like Fridgedaire is capitalized. It's a brand name that became synonymous for a line of products.

Same reason I think. Dempster Dumpster was a brand name and people shortened it to "Dumpster".

I never even thought of Dumpster as being trademarked, but is been since 1962.

Intresting what has been Trademarked over at the USPTO.
