Since when did "Nagger" become a racial epithet?

When I game I curse. I say shit, fuck, wise and beautiful woman, motherfucker. Don't like it? Mute me. Swear filters on game servers auto kick as soon as you type the word in. Usually with no warning one is running. Pissed me off so I stopped playing.

As far as I'm concerned its 1st amendment freedom of speech. If it offends the sensibilities of sissy bitches like yourself, you can blow it out your ass for all I care.

What I'm thinking, too. I'd bet the OP has never once used the word "nagger" IRL to refer to someone nagging him. In other words, imho, the OP trying to be all "who me?" cute here. I'm not buying it, his BS is nagging at me.

I doubt anyone in this thread has ever used or heard that word except in reference to that South Park episode. Most people in this thread are feigning naivety.

i use the word "naggers".

it's more of a contextual use when i use "you people.", and someone says "what do you mean 'you people'?".

Didn't play Bad Company, it sucked. Played Battlefield 2 online. Name was Splicer, please ban it. If I ever get back into pc gaming I don't want to play with you either. I haven't played a pc FPS in like 3 years though and don't plan on going back any time soon. Huge waste of money buying a new video card every year just to be able to play the latest games. Xbox is where I'll waste my time these days.

I am just wondering why anyone would use the word nagger when the word nag means the same thing.....a person who nags is a nag. Also, a nag is a horse, of course.

But why use nagger when nag means exactly the same thing? I'd postulate it'd only be used to incite......no purpose in using the word otherwise. (Nag is both a noun and verb.....)

It's one of those words... like kvetching... that are heard around certain households.

I can't think of any appropriate reason to use that term on a game server; other than what most of us have already figured out - and the exact reason he was banned on that server. He just thought he was being cute by using a different word in the dictionary that's close enough, and thought "well, it's a real word, so technically, I'm not attempting to bypass the language filter."

Next week, we'll have another 16 12 year old posting here about how on a "public" game server (LOL - I can see where someone growing up in an online era *might* be confused about the definition of public, depending on the context) he was banned because when someone shot him, he called him a niggard. "No, really, I meant he was being really thrifty with his bullets, because he only used one bullet. He could have used 3 or 4 bullets when he killed me.

I stand by my statement regardless of Baasha's P&N posts. In his particular case ( I haven't read his posts ) it may or may not hold water. Nagger is not a racist word.

Example: I know a black girl and she calls her daughter a little monkey. Her daughter told the bus driver in a casual conversation that her mothers nick name for her was "Little Monkey". The bus driver who was also black reported her to the school for racist comments. The drama went on for days. She finally went to the school board to explain that she calls her that because she is little and climbs on everything. It was totally stupid.

There is way too much sensitivity and jumping to conclusions in general.

I wasn't defending him exactly, only to say it's a shame when the word is used in context and someone would be accused of using it as a derogatory term. Things like this have happened. :\
