Well I figured that part out, but I see no reason to call someone a nagger in a literal sense in BC2. The only plausible explanation is OP was circumventing a word filter.

This. If the OP is butt-hurt, he can always go that the server's website and ask to be unbanned.

what's too bad about it is if anyone is using that word for exactly what it is, calling someone who nags, a nagger, and yet is accused of using it as a racial slur. that's bullshit.

Meh, he threw it out there so he incurs the judgement of those who read it to interpret his meaning.

FTR, I've NEVER heard anyone use that word in real life or online. No fucking sympathy here.

I have used nagger in real life. Not so much online though.

What I'm thinking, too. I'd bet the OP has never once used the word "nagger" IRL to refer to someone nagging him. In other words, imho, the OP trying to be all "who me?" cute here. I'm not buying it, his BS is nagging at me. ;)

There are plenty of other BC2 servers so I don't care about what happened. I was just surprised that I got banned for saying a totally innocuous word mistaken to mean something else. In essence, the ban was unwarranted. However, it's a computer game so I don't give two shits about it. Just thought I'd post here to see what the general consensus on the word "nagger" would be. And, some of you have made it clear that despite knowing that it's not a slur, you would still extrapolate it to be so. meh...

Swear filters on servers is one of the reason I quit playing Battlefield 2 on the pc. Quite hypocritical to forbid the use of curse words in a game that simulates war. I mean come on, you're playing a game rated M. People are getting shot dead and bleeding out, there's head shots. There should not be any kiddies in there to worry about f-bombs. If there are, I guarantee you they aren't hearing anything they haven't heard before.

Xbox has it right. You can say whatever the hell you want. If someone doesn't like it, all they have to do is mute you.

Let me ask you this, if you're gaming away and someone on your team starts throwing around racial slurs, taunting other players, you're okay with that? I mean, it's not really like you're in a war and actually killing people. You're playing a fucking game. Do you throw around insults like that in real life? I guess if it's rated M you should be able to let your tolerance levels down and show what a real piece of shit you really are...

I don't think I'd perma-ban but it's not unreasonable to think that you were trying to circumvent, plus if it's a private server he can do whatever he wants ...

LOL..

Let me put it to you this way. I would not call an annoying black person a 'nagger' for obvious reasons. I also wouldn't call a parsimonious black person a niggard for the same reasons. Both those words have NOTHING to do with race. Yet, I like all of my teeth in their place and my nose the way it is. I don't want to be knocked out because some idiot doesn't know the actual meaning of the word(s). I would be prudent enough not to use words that could otherwise be mistaken for something 'bad'. However, the words in and of themselves are not slurs.

wow.. dude.. seriously? take a deep breath and chill the fuck out..

BC2 uses curse words very often and attempts to be realistic. One could argue that they left out racial slurs in the game (as characters yelling them out) for PC reasons but everyone would agree that was a good decision.

The issue here is simple. I got perma-banned on a server for using a word that has nothing to do with race. Over-reacting n00b-admin banned me for saying "nagger". I was NOT trying to circumvent the racist-filter or whatever. Dude was annoying as shit. I told him he was a 'nagger'. I get banned. Is it really hard to see the unfairness in that?

I doubt you meant "nagger" by it's true definition either. You sound like the type who would call everybody gay, then when told to stop you'd say "what? 'gay' means happy so I was just saying he's happy lolwutIdo?" That shit stopped in middle school.

Most of my friends call me a niggard. I don't mind though I am quite the niggard. I NEVER loan out money if it can be avoided.

As the title suggests, when did "nagger' become a racial epithet or racist in any manner whatsoever?

Backstory:

I was playing BC2 the other day and at the end of a round, some guy was just mouthing off and so I just said, "hah, you nagger" and the next second, I got perma-banned on the server!

The "reason" was 'racist remark'! I was like, "WTF!?"

Anyway, since when did NAGGER become a racist word? Just because it sounds close to the n-word? Seriously? And, that guy was nagging so I called him a nagger.

Naggers piss me off!

Stop pretending you are innocent.

I know nobody that uses the word nagger except you. People are always trying to circumvent language filters in game. I know on our servers, you'd probably be banned too. Heck, I may have been the one to ban you.

i dont really know why you would call someone a nagger other than to circumvent a word censor for the n-word. wtf is a nagger?

Someone who nags. Nagging is incessantly pressuring someone to do something they don't want to do or to do something sooner than they desire. English?

I could constantly nag you to "cover me" in an FPS. I could constantly nag a medic to give me his undivided attention. I could constantly nag my teammates to follow my unpopular strategy. If the guy was nagging as the OP says, then it was perfectly legit.

Nagger and Niggardly are used very commonly in India. I guess OP's parents, or someone else around him, use that word frequently. It might not be a common word in the US.. for obvious reasons, but it is quite popular from where I.. and, presumably, OP's parents grew up.

So, nagger is a word used to describe someone who is...annoying? Maybe the guy who banned you was black, maybe he didn't relate to the intricacies and genuine innocence and purity of your insult?

Curse words are not the same as racial slurs. Sorry...game over...you're banned.

Maybe the next time you're playing an online game you won't use the word nig...er I mean nagger to describe someone you're unhappy with.

hahaha.. that's true.. I learned the word 'niggard' in middle school and soon afterwards, ended up in the dean's office for using it in class! XD dumbasses didn't know what it meant... principal told me, "better not to use such words even though they aren't racist!" hhahahahah..
