I am a dad of two, as my wife works full time, I had significant contribution to my children's upbringing; would stay home with them when they were sick, she would even go on business trips for days at a stretch. Now, in a TV commercial, no matter how dumb they portray dads, my only reaction would be amusement. This is ridiculous, men always have a good sense of humor... where is this come from... it’s insulting, damn those sissy metrosexuals...

The new commercial shows a group of dads so involved in watching sports on television that they forget to change their kids’ diapers.

A Huggies ad has fathers in an uproar for its unfair portrayal of dads as inattentive and incapable of caring for their babies. The campaign, titled “Have Dad Put Huggies To The Test”, was part of a program to “demonstrate the performance of our Huggies diapers and baby wipes in real life situations.”

The new ad comes, though, at a time when more and more fathers are opting to stay at home while their wives bring home the bacon.

“Changing diapers, cleaning, feeding, bathing,” Routly writes. “No aspect of parenting other than actually giving birth and breastfeeding is off-limits to involved 21st Century dads. The days of dad being unwilling or unable to take an active role in even the messiest aspects of parenting young children are past.”
Routly is hoping to get 20,000 electronic signatures.

My parents adopted a baby when I was in my early 20s. I changed 1 crappy diaper and only 1 crappy diaper. After that, I decided I couldn't have kids. 20+ years later, I have no kids. :D

Doh -- timewarp! I can change the title too! Let's see....

yeah, well, its TOTALLY different when you do it for your own offspring... cant compare. I hope you didn't have babies just bcoz of that experience. Don't get me wrong, I feel there is nothing wrong with not having babies but I hope that was not the ONLY reason...

Typical male behavior is vilified and if you take it at face value it will undermine your confidence.

I 110% ignore girly comments these days, especially girly comments made by guys.

To be fair it's pretty annoying how men are portrayed in TV and movies. It's like every guy is Homer Simpson.

I agree with ya, My wife's a doctor and it's me that stays home n takes care of our 2 kids (3 yr old and 3 month old)...once this lady made a comment to me saying that my kid is probably crying cuz I didn't change his diaper (he was just tired n sleepy), I wanted to punch her on the nose n say, bitch I been changing him for 2 years, you think I can't tell by now.

True. I think I changed a diaper twice in my life before I had a child of my own. Since then I've probably changed hundreds and hundreds of them... maybe even into the thousands.

Well there are still a lot of guys that don't know how to take care of their kids. Not as many as there used to be, but still.

Ironically, the type of fathers who are stay at home dads while their wives are the primary moneymakers - chances are those men are more sensitive than the average guy, so this reaction isn't surprising. :p

Basically it was men can do anything woman can do.. if not bette,r we just don't want to do it.

There's a lot of women that are unfit parents, and I'm not talking about crackheads. I mean upper middle class, drive the kids to private school women. Somehow the fairytale that owning a vagina makes you a good parent got circulated as being factual :^S
