Since when did "douche bag" become mainstream?

When I was a kid (I'm in my 30s), other kids were using the term "douche bag" rarely, and these were the loser kids.

Now, this phrase is popping up in mainstream primetime TV (e.g. Family Guy). When did this exceptionally vulgar term become acceptable? Don't get me wrong, I can swear like a mother ******, but "douche bag" to me is just blatantly sexist and vulgar.

You just have sand in your crotch. A good douche will help that.

I have been using this term for years... Glad to see it is finally catching on!

I once stocked douches at Walmart. Very easy - they come in nice boxes, nothing oddly shaped, makes for easy stacking. Mkay?

I really don't see how douche is a very offensive word... Then again, if you think about most of the 'foul language', none of it is particularly offensive either.

Why not clean your gums and your teeth at the same time?:
