So I was scanning the channels and ran into a Faux News segment where they blatantly do some really idiotic reverse brainwashing, by using parodies... I can't explain it, but if you watch it, you'd probably want to vomit.

They had Dennis Miller made a short speech regarding the current situation in Iraq, and I have some quotes

"...Putting an expiration date on the war on Iraq is the most idiotic thing the democratic congress can do, stay the course..." well, that's not verbatim but was the context. Now, this quote is why I think he's bat shiet crazy:

"Good thing that we didn't find any WMDs in Iraq, because if we did, think of how many troops would have been dead today", that one is verbatim.

I  Dennis Miller.

Love his commentary. His is pretty centrist in his views.

He's not even close to "hard right". He just supports the war in Iraq. Socially he's a Dem.

EDIT: Apparently if you don't hate Bush you're a douchebag. Nice.

He is not a douche. He just realized he was wrong and you have not made that connection yet. I liked him even when he was wrong because he was funny. The biggest anti-smoker is always the one who used to smoke.

The only douchebag is the OP:

While not at all shy about expressing his conservative opinions on topics such as taxes and foreign policy, Miller is quick to point out that he is still quite liberal on many social issues, including full support for a woman's right to an abortion, and gay marriage. [29] During a recent interview Miller has said "I'm basically a libertarian. I'm pro-gay marriage and pro-choice, but nobody wants to hear all that...They determine who you are based on the war." He joked while on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno that he did not believe in global warming and that even if it was happening he would not mind it because he does not like to be cold.

In a radio interview with Penn Jillette on September 22, 2006, Miller explained that he was a Libertarian. Regarding Libertarianism Miller said "...that's what I am, I'll be honest with you. I'm for gay marriage, I don't believe in abortion but I'm Pro-Choice 'cause it's none of my business. Pretty much anything goes with me if you're not infringing yourself on other people but, I'll tell ya, 9/11 changed me... You gotta go around and explain it to people and they think you're a turncoat."

And Miller is right. You cannot put an end date on the Iraq mission. You can only have a goal, and do everything possible to reach that goal as soon as possible.

You put a pull out date on the mission, and the insurgents will simply wait until we leave and Iraq will fall to the extremists as soon as we're gone.

And why would that last quote make you think he's crazy? If WMDs were availble to the insurgents the US death toll would be outrageously high.

The last quote got me because WMDs were the entire premise of the war. When I heard that, I thought that he's sold out to the Fox crowd. Basically, my interpretation of it was that he's appeasing the Fox listener, and try to right the wrong that was the invation that got us in this mess in the first place.

So you're saying that if we had found WMDs, the insurgents would have them? What's stopping them now from obtaining "WMDs"?

If you have seen his short speech, you'd have the same impression that I had, too. I used to watch Dennis a lot and though haven't been lately, I was very surprised. It's like Michael Moore would start making a movie that praises Bush for his accomplishments; yup, it's that bad.

He realized he was wrong? He has always supported having another war. He even said so on his famous HBO special.

Isn't a policy of intervention and invasion against the most fundamental beliefs of libertarianism? (in the idea of foreign policy period, infringing on freedoms of neutral others with force, and taxation issue to support it.) How does that work for him?

yeah, i think that's a fair assessment.... if you don't hate a guy who lies to you to get your brothers and sisters killed in a giant sandbox of a country, you're a douchebag.

p.s. they don't hate us for our fcking freedom... if you think they do, you're a douchebag.

i just dont get why people are like "omg bush lied to us!"

wrong. he lied to the rest of the world for militaristic reasons. if he would have lied to the rest of the world but been honest with us, then our dumbass liberal press would have took the story straight to al queda and blown the whole thing.

"liberal press"...

did you ever stop to think that maybe they know more than you about issues that they see first hand? ever think that they're intelligent enough to make sense of things and connect dots? after all, that's part of what they get paid to do, right? so, just because their extremely informed and first-hand view of things doesn't match up with your paradigm, that doesn't mean they're worthless "liberal" reporters. fox news, on the other hand, which outright has an obvious agenda to bring the country back to the "good ol' days" with "good ol' boys" is a completely different issue.

sorry, but in general the liberal press has lost my respect. most "far" left wing people, from my perspective, are crazy. but I'm not any kind of political science major, so i guess you are right in that my criticism is short sided, based simply on my experience..

absolutely... the battle of the funny-maybe-once-in-their-careers political comedians.

If Dennis Miller was amusing even once in his career, that puts him one ahead of Bill Maher. :p
