Since when are Myspaces professional?

Since when has Myspace become so important that almost every band, movie, group, etc. uses it for a main webpage instead of registering a domain?

How unenthused do you have to be about your huge project to not get a domain for it? I can see getting a myspace for a Uwe Boll movie or something, but it seems like a hot trend right now.

I don't even know what the point of this post is, so I added a poll.

probably since like, Fox or someone bough myspace and is doing its best to pimp it out as that sort of platform.

Smart move, really.

Best way to hit millions of users on something they enjoy using.

And the only way to get their ungodly purchase price back out of it.

MySpace (and all similar) need to die a painful death, they're the f'ing ghetto of the internet.

actually for bands that was one of the original intents. You realize most of them DO have a domain name for their band or their movie or whatever, but myspace gives them something a stand alone, sertile website can't NETWORKING. Especially for bands. One band can list other bands, and those bands list other bands as friends and it all snowballs. "Hmmm I like this band, and they seem to like that band... I'll have to listen to that band... " NETWORKING is the key to myspace for bands and movies and such. That is a single enough reason to enjoy myspace.... not the 13yr old webcam girls. I have found MANY new bands via myspace. (and I work at a radio station)

Epiphany(sp?) time, the perfect bands... 13 y.o. webcam girls in a band, it hits every demographic. Cha-ching! oh wait, that was the sound of the cell bars slamming shut.

I really didn't have anything productive to say....sry.

but you're missing the point. He probably DID have a domain. Has nothing to do with being "cheap". Myspace offers direct NETWORKING for your "product" whatever it maybe your are shilling out; your band, your campaign, or your 13yr old webcam ass.

You have to be 18 to vote. How does marketing on a site catered to 15 year old emo kids help his campaign?

Though a vast percentage of users are teens, myspace is not just for teens anymore. It is arguably the most popular site on the internet now, and all sorts of adults use it. Dane Cook became hugely popular among college students almost exclusively through myspace.

you don't know what you are talking about. I have about 210 friends right now on myspace. about 205 I know in real life. 204 of those are between the ages of 20-31 . your perception of who is on myspace is massively skewed. and for the record the 1 underage individual on my friends list is my little sister and she a well adjusted individual with a good head on her shoulders - aka not emo.

I love how 'those in the know' think every forum, blog, chat, etc on the internet is the domain of pre-20's crowds only.

Perhaps if they had more of a social life, they'd realize some people in their own peer group delve into these things.

If you are young, single and fun...there is alot online to help open up new dating arenas and networking friends in your own area that you probably would have never met otherwise.

They need to do a rm -rf / on all of the myspace servers ASAP!
What an utter waste of bandwidth :/

I don't understand everyones fundamental problems with myspace/facebook. I have both, and I have never had much problems with them. I don't really use either that much, except occasionally checking to see if some cute girl, or one of my friends has messaged me.

Can some one explain the hate?

because in secret they message every cute or even semi-cute chick on both and never get even one response.

:)
