Stumbled on this on Steam today, watched a few vids, and read some reviews, and dropped $29. Am I going to hate myself?

Had another project tonight and so I didn't get to mess with it very much, but so far it looks great and the control system is deep. It's amazing that this is the work more or less of one programmer. I love the inertial model for spaceflight.

$29? I swear I bought this game a couple years back for like $5, so you might be a bit upset.

Heh. I think it got updated. From what I understand he's been evolving it and releasing new versions for 13 years. I really just barely scratched the surface last night. Need to set up my joystick tonight before I do anything else. My first impressions were very favorable. The graphics and UI are not absolutely AAA but they are close, and the game seems very deep. The flight model is far more realistic than that of Eve or an X game. There's more to ship management, i.e. managing shield and weapon power, different nav modes, etc. That may be a good or bad thing. Station docking is really well done from what I saw. You can fly down and land on planets and deploy a walker a move around. I haven't done that, and I'm prepared for it to be a let down, but it's still pretty cool. I'll have more to say when I play some more.

Bumping this because I've been playing the update for about a week. I'm surprised that none of the space sim fans around here talk much about this game. It has a very few rough spots (the dialogs and save system for the most part), but those are shared by lots of other space trading/fighting games. Otherwise, it looks great, I love the spaceflight model, the explosions and effects are maybe a wee bit arcade-ish, but overall well worth the money imo.
