Since we've all seen all the raptor vs. generic HD comparisons,

I mention this because the array costs $660 to build, and for that price you can buy 2 150gb raptors and put 'em in Raid 0 like people are want to do.

HD Tach Long Test

Raptor:
Random Access: 7.9 ms
Average Read: 65.1 MB/s

Raid:
Random Access: 14.5 ms
Average Read: 104.3 MB/s

Not that the Raid array has some associated CPU utilization, but it does not, in real world usage, have a significant impact. Note also that HD Tach is not neccisarily the most reliable indicator of real world information.
