Since the assault weapons ban is lifted, what guns are now legal?

I want some serious firepower to shoot some targets and old televisions and stuff up. I heard about the ban being lifted, but the only gun I've heard on the news was a Tek-9. Anyone have a list of decent sized guns that are now legal?

My understanding is that all fully automatic guns are still banned. Is this correct?

The AWB had nothing to do with how automatic weapons are regulated despite what anyone might say.

According to the laws in California, here's what I need to make my .22 into an assault rifle:
Bipod.
Scope.

That's it.

Jon Stewart has the AK's number 1 thru 46

"I want to shoot a deer, so that after i've shot him there's nothing left. And you look and say where'd he go and it's just a puddle" ~Jon Stewart

there's really no logical reason for assult weapons. if i recall the reason the ban got started in the first place was when two thugs robbed a bank outside LA with a pair of AK-47's and body armor, they never got away and instead were *surrounded* by police within 10min out of the bank. and by *surround* i mean a bunch of LAPD cowering behind brick walls, trees, and post office boxes.

the body armor made them invincible and the assualt rifles made them walking tanks. each crook fired hundreds of shots wounding a total of 12 or 13 officers. each withstood 1000 bullets over the course of the hour hitting their armor. about 6-7 actually made it in some weak spots so both died or something.

over 2000+ rounds were fired in that incident

You're an idiot.

Fully automatic weapons have been regulated since the 30's. The AWB of 1994 did nothing but ban cosmetic features on semi-automatic weapons. It said you can't have more than 2 of the following: pistol grip, removable magazine, collapsible stock, bayonet lug, flash supressor, grenade launcher (don't worry, grenades are very hard to get).

So after the ban, what did we have? The same gun with a fake flash supressor, a pinned out stock so it wouldn't collapse and no bayonet lug or grenade launcher. THE SAME GUN shooting the same ammo with the same accuracy.

The AWB did nothing but hinder collectors and responsible gun owners.

Ok, for the umpteenth time, the Bank of America shootout had nothing to do with the AWB.

The ban was in effect at the time of the robbery. The criminals used illegal full auto weapons in the robbery which are not covered be the AWB.

Basically, by your description, it was the ARMOR that made them lethal. The fact that they had full auto hasn't changed for quite some time. Would it have been different had they been using legal BAR or .50 DE guns instead of the highly visible AK-47? Because of that incident, bullet proof vests are now regulated. The guns they used were already illegal, they were already convicted felons that were released from prison, they got them anyways.

How many more laws would it have taken to prevent what they did? They already broke a dozen. Would breaking a dozen more change anything?

BTW, about the deer comment ..... an AR-15 shoots a 5.56 NATO round, which is basically a .223. My 30-06 deer rifle shoots a much bigger bullet at a pretty quick rate (Remington pump gun). So does my lever action 30-30 (model 94).

THe only thing that changed, is now you can buy a NEWLY PRODUCED clip that holds over 10 rounds, certain flash supressors, bayonet lugs, and pistol gripped rifles or shotguns. (You could always buy them, but companies couldn't make new ones)

Sooo... basically.... the price of some of that stuff will go down, since companies can make new ones.
