Since I have switched to AMD I can't burn @ 12x on-the-fly

I have a MSI Pro2 w/ Promise FastTrack100 raid

Kenwood 72x as master on IDE1

Plex 12x10x32 on IDE 2 as master, Pioneer 16x DVDROM as slave

Clean install of Win2K & VIA 4.25a drivers

-----

In Device Manager the IDE channels are reporting UDMA. I have NERO 5.0.3.8 installed and it gets halfway thru the 12x on-the-fly burn and makes a coaster. I never had this problem when I was using my CUSL2-C Intel board. I have Nero set to use 800MB cache in a special folder on the d: drive, and assigned it 64MB additonal to use as a buffer. I bumped my 1GHz Tbird to defaults to rule out an o/c'ing problem.

In addition, when NERO makes the coaster the program itself locks, and I must reboot.

Anyone got a solution?

I fixed this problem.

I moved the Plextor to master on the primary channel, and put the Kenwood as master on the secondary channel w/ the Pioneer as slave. I just burned on-the-fly @ 12x......wohoo!

How would the soltek drivers benefit my setup?

I had the same exact problem with my setup. I have a Plextor 12X10X32 speed burner, MSI K7TPro2-A, and all the updated drivers. 1 out of 3 burns would result in a coaster, lockup, blue screen, etc.... I never found a fix for it so I got rid of my AMD setup and went back to intel. Since I went back, I have burned over 20 cd's, and none were coasters.. I am sure their is a fix for it somewhere... Must have something to do with the VIA Drivers...

I also changed out my IDE cables. Evidentally one of the 2 things I did fixed the problem.
