I'd give it a try.. personally from experience I find that brand really doesn't matter much... if you want a certain chip and you can find one cheap on something like an FIC board, Its not a big deal.. maybe slightly less MHz, but they usually work just fine.. I'd go for it if you are interested.. fill us in if you get it!

Wow not bad $295 for the ATI 9700 pro OEM! I wonder how long the warranty is? Hmm. Guessing maybe one year. So does anyone know if that software mod to change the ATI 9500 or ATI 9500 pro 128 mb of video ram to a ATI 9700 pro speed or faster actually work 100% all the time? Or 98% of the time?

Adul to bad :( Thats ok. So what are the chances of overclocking the ATI 9700 to a ATI 9700 pro speeds or faster by just software overclocking without modding anything please ? I hope the next ATI video card can do 1600x1200 at 200 fps minimum with no FSAA or AF and 100 fps minimum with maximum FSAA and AF in all games! Plus all details on the highest possible settings with everything on! That would be so cool!

After reading This thread at Guru3d I began to think if you really want a 9700pro... it is best to buy a 9700pro.

It seems like the same as buying a Sapphire branded 9700 Pro, same clock speeds and everything. For that price, I'd say go for it :D

When the ATI 9700 pro oem or retail gets down to $250 it will be a very nice price for that video card! But $295 is not bad! A lot better than $399 or more!

hi,
you could also go with the crucial version of the 9700 pro.
it's on bensb@rgains now for $304 shipped with lifetime warranty.

it's getting to the point where i am getting interested too....

good luck

Brandon, crucial has a 9700 Pro for $304 shipped(2 day fedex) with a coupon code, I can PM you it if you want. I'd buy a crucial one before I bought FIC... never had a good experience with their motherboards, so I'm admittedly biased.

edit: doh, beaten to it!

I think you're right :) Besides, I just got in the mail today:

$30 Sandisk rebate check
$30 I/O Magic rebate check
$35 Check from my best friend's parents for helping them move into their new house (looooooooooooong day of work).

So I could practically pay for a third of the video card right now with those checks :) I've got my old 14" rims up on eBay so that should net me another $75-100.

Not to mention that I have $80 in Logitech rebates due here in the next week. Add to that another $440 in rebates due in the next 6-8 weeks (Canon, D-Link, Iomega, Siemens, Western Digital, and a few more) and I'm all set :D

Ah, what the hell...I guess I'll go ahead and get it :D

I took my chances and picked up a NewEgg refurb Sapphire Pro for $250..... despite having to make my own power connector (card came with absolutely nothing else) it runs beautifully. The FIC board looks exactly like the Sapphire pro I own.

Bah, I'm not going for the Crucial. Even with the 5% off coupon, I have to pay sales tax which would take it to $325 shipped vs $295 no tax for the FIC at NewEgg.

GTaudiophile maybe the devil's world has frozen over. Who knows. It was so cold and i bet still is in some areas.

*NFS4 how do you know 100% sure you will get all your mail in rebates ? :) *

I guess you will call them and yell and scream if you don't get your rebates lol.

Bah, get the GeForce FX! The fan throttling is a nice courtesy feature you know. When the phone rings, you exit out of UT and the fan slows automatically so you can talk on the phone! Who would've thought of that? Those nv engineers are slick lemme tell ya! At last your machine can have that high end sound of a server full of fans (that automatically go into lion's roar mode at pre POST!) and 15k drives without the price! Yippee! :)

Cheers!

I ALWAYS get all of my rebates. I keep scanned copies of every receipt, UPC and rebate form. I track phone numbers and website addresses. Rebates that can be tracked online, I keep links to them so that I can check their progress. I even get back all of my New Rochelle (TCA Rebates). I just got a $100 Palm rebate check from TCA two weeks ago.

The ONLY company I have EVER had trouble with was I/O Magic. I had two $30 rebates with them. They'd been out since September. I emailed, they claimed they didn't receive the paperwork. Luckily I had my copies so I called them up two weeks ago. They were like uhhh, fax them to us. I faxed the copies of both rebates submissions and they sent me a $30 rebate check within 5 days. Still didn't get the other one. I called the up again and said WTF dude?? I faxed them the information AGAIN, and got the second $30 check today :D

Other than that, my rebates have been smooth sailing. You just have to keep copies of EVERYTHING!

NFS4 yep and i do keep copies of everything! I am always double checking myself. I guess you are like a Rebate Cop! lol. Now that i think about it i need to call Fuji about my $10 mail in rebate on my Fuji CD-Rs! I did copy everything too! So that should not be a problem.

It should be a nice upgrade from my Ti4200
:Q

I had to look twice to see who posted this . . .

Did someone hijack your account?

Uh, anyway . . . back from OT . . . I'd say "yes" it looks like a decent card at a good price (now - especially since it looks like ATI won't be dropping prices as quickly). Me? I'm gonna hold onto my 8500 a little longer to see what the refresh of the 9700 looks like and how it affects the price of the current 9700Pro.

I've been praisin' the 9700 Pro for quite some time :) Just never saw a reason to get one until now :p

I had an AIW Radeon (first gen Radeon) a while back...the drivers were craptastic.

As for BMW's inline-6 engines, VQ35 owns them all except for the 3.2L piece on the M3...but even that mofo is prone to blowing up :D
