I am sure it is either a stadby or line interactive UPS...in which case you are running off of AC power until the power cuts out and you have to run from the battery. In which case you are running true sine wave at least until the power cuts out. So you need not be concerned you are "slowly killing" them.

Computers and modern TVs have SMPS's that will run off pretty much anything anyways. Your modified sine wave is rectified into DC at the front side of the PS.. and it's all the same from there.

Some things don't care for the modified square waves that the less expensive UPSes put out (like synchronous clock motors, some cordless phones, etc.), but most computer gear doesn't mind 'em. Some have seen artifacts on LCD monitors. Check with the makers of your gear for specific info.

Also it's only an issue when the ups is running on battery, which should be rare unless you live in power outage heaven. Personally I just picked up a real sine wave ups finally! APC smartups 1000. Fun times ahead!

Is the powercom smart king a good buy for real sine wave? I mean, I may not need it but it's better to not need it and have it than need it and not have it.
