It goes gold today doesn't it?

I'll check it out. I liked building the houses more than decorating and living in them in the first, maybe the second can offer more.

They may review it a 5/5, but lets be real, what they mean is 5/5 for a simulation game. You just aren't going to get the gameplay that you will get out of a normal fun game.

I played it this weekend for an hour or two. I never really understood the previous one (played it about 2 or 3 hours as well) and I didn't really understand this one. Graphics and presentation were beautiful, but I just don't think it's the sort of game for me. It seems like an aminated doll house. No real goals or anything.

ya there isnt a point to it... its a completely make your own content game..
you build everything..
the building houses alone sounds pretty cool to me...
i did mess with sims 1 and i liked building the houses and torturing my sims in differnt ways...

my girlfriend at the time brought it home and got addicted.. so i spent my time torturing her sims lol

Exactly. If you don't find it fun to make your sim monkeys go to the bathroom or eat food (I don't), then you'll find it boring and stupid.

I'd much rather be playing Jagged Alliance 2 where your sims carry assault rifles and shoot bad guys :)

I saw the blank neighborhood where you can build all your own stuff. The part I played was one of the 3 preset neighborhoods. You pick the neighboorhood, then pick the house you want to control. I tried 2 different ones for maybe an hour each. One the husband was thinking about cheating on his wife with the maid. The maid finished up and was hanging around the house. She gets in the pool. As I'm about to get in and join her, I have to make a decision at the wife's work. I made the wrong choice and she got fired. She comes home to find the maid and her husband in the pool. Fairly funny.

I was thinking about buying the new one but probably not anymore. After playing it a little, it's not my type of 'game.' I can see folks getting into it which is cool, but it's not for me.

Still, I'll give them props for presentation and graphics. The game is incredible to look at it. All the moving parts and stuff inside and outside is just amazing.

Yeah, for the most part they eat, shower, and use the restroom on their own.

The IGN review is pretty funny stuff.
