SIMS 2: Will a MAC cd key work on the PC version?

Sims 2 was $6 at Circuit city on Black Friday and I picked it up at Best buy as a price match. I tried to install it today and then noticed that it was the Mac version.

I'd return it, but they don't sell it anymore as Sims 2 Deluxe has replaced it.

If I find someone to make me a copy of the PC version of the game, will my Mac cd key work?

If so, anyone want to sell me a copy of their dvd?

Don't see why it wouldn't. No reason not to standardize the key formula.

There's a good chance it won't work. I'd take the game back, unless you really don't care about being out $6 plus whatever it costs you to get a copy of Sims 2 PC. And I'm pretty sure getting a copy of sims 2 PC wouldn't be legal anyway, only the original publisher has distribution and production rights.

I'd try it first as it's free. If it doesn't work then take the game back.
