Has anyone seen this happen? I've been playing the Sims 2 for about 3 days now and all of a sudden it's so choppy that it's unplayable, and the hard drive light is on almost constantly. If I pause the game, I can move around pretty smoothly. I'm running it on the rig in my siggeh. I defragged and it didn't help at all. It's as if something really hard-drive intensive is happening in the game all of a sudden, but the point where I'm saved has all of my sims either at work or sleeping except for one guy sitting on the couch reading.

I'm gonna try a re-install to see if that helps. Does anyone else have any hot tips for me?

Yup, makes sense. The game is a hog when you get past the beginning. I have 1GB of RAM and a 6800U and it still lags sometimes. Its not your system. You might want to try playing with the resolution or detail settings. Turn AA, Ansio, and shadows off!

No dice, I reinatalled and still have the same problem. I tried saving my game a couple minutes later and I just exited to the desktop. I will start back up and see if that helped.

I did try cranking the graphics down a little and that didn't help. The funny part about it is that when I pause the game and then try to scroll around it works fine and doesn't seem to drop any frames.

I'm also about to try playing from a different house in the neighborhood to see if that bogs down, too. I will also see what I can dig up from EA Tech support.

Stay tuned. . . .
